Recorder Notes

Interactve recorder fingering chart - a fantastic site to help learn the recorder. When you get to this page, you will see a recorder, piano keys and two lines of notes, these are scales in the treble and alto clef - you probably have a standard small recorder (soprano or treble recorder) - which uses the top line of notes, on the site. The notes on these scales correspond with the piano keys - and the piano keys when rolled onto by your mouse, show the fingering on the recorder. In order to determine which holes go with which notes:

- Start from the farthest left piano key, and roll over it with your
mouse, you will see C appear where is says "note now playing" and if you look over to the recorder image, you will see which holes to cover (in black). This is low C, all the holes are covered by your fingers.

- Keep going right to the next key, which is D, and you will see all the holes are covered except the very bottom finger holes...

- Keep moving to the right key by key until you reach the eighth key

- which is the last note you probably need to know (high C).
